Review - The Audition

Original Title: The Audition
Series: Seraphina, #0.5
Author: Rachel Hartman
Published: June 19th, 2012

Publisher: published for free on Amazon

Being only seventeen pages long, this prequel to Seraphina is a short account of how she came to be Viridius’ assistant in Castle Orison, and Princess Glisselda’s music tutor, the roles she already occupies in the first book of the series. It also introduces a few characters that will appear in the next book, such as the Music Master, the Princess, and Seraphina’s dragon uncle, Orma. Nothing impressive or essential to understand the story that follows, because it doesn’t add much to the plot. I guess that it is the same reading it or not, because the story is perfectly understandable with or without it. It is nice, it is short, but little more. I couldn’t tell if it is engaging enough as to grab Seraphina next, because I already read both that one, and Shadow Scale, but those who have read none may find it interesting.
